About Membership

Blue Horizon Oasis is a local body of Ordo Templi Orientis, the first of the Old Aeon orders to accept The Book of the Law which proclaims a New Aeon in human thought, culture and religion. However, to attend many of our events, you do not need to be a member. If you wish to see an upcoming list of events, please visit our events page. Membership in Ordo Templi Orientis

Membership in Ordo Templi Orientis generally means becoming an initiate member of O.T.O. Initiate membership is available to every man and woman who is free, at least 18 years old, and of "good report"—that is, sponsored by two members who are at least first-degree initiates in O.T.O. In order to establish your "good report", it's best to start attending some of our events, where you can meet members who may wish to get to know you before sponsoring you.

Initiate membership begins with initiation into the degree of Minerval. The Minerval Degree is an introductory initiate degree, designed to allow the initiate to decide whether or not to become a full member. It is a "throwing the doors of the temple open", revealing what is inside to the wandering stranger. To become a full member, the First Degree (I°) represents "birth" into the Order, and while any member may retire from active participation and leave the Order, the spiritual link forged between the initiate of the Order during the ceremony will remain throughout the initiate's life.

Membership in Blue Horizon Oasis

Membership in Blue Horizon Oasis is open to any member of OTO of the degree of Minerval (0°) or higher. Membership in Blue Horizon Oasis starts at $22/month, and is used to finance the local activities of Blue Horizon Oasis, including funding our dedicated Temple space. If you are financially able, we have a variety of membership levels, from Core Membership at $44/month through to Dedicated Membership which starts at $156/month.

If you are interested in becoming a dues-current member of Blue Horizon Oasis, you must first become a member of Ordo Templi Orientis. Once you have become an OTO member, you may then become a member of as many local bodies as you care to support, including Blue Horizon Oasis.

Membership Levels With Core Membership in Blue Horizon Oasis, you will not only show your support of our local body, but you will also receive a 20% discount on selected events and classes. Core members will also receive full use of our magical library, which currently contains several hundred titles, including some rather hard to find books. With Supporting Membership, not only are most classes and events at Blue Horizon free, but you may, if you wish, join the building and event planning committees. Membership in these committees permits you insight into how your money is being spent, to make sure your generous donation is handled well. Dedicated Membership starts at $156/month, but may be any amount over that baseline you wish to set. With Dedicated Membership you will receive all of the benefits listed above, and you can also, if you desire, join the long-term planning committee in order to assure the health of the local body. Membership may be paid in person to our Treasurer, or you may make membership payments online using the form to the right. Each link to the right requires a PayPal account so your contributions may be automatically deducted each month.
